Ribnica Handicraft Centre
Slovenia
Ribnica Handicraft Centre combines four activities: a museum, a gallery, a museum shop and handicrafts, which are based on the tradition of Ribnica - producing woodenware and pottery.
Products and services provided by the centre are plentiful, diverse and suitable for different target groups, i.e. nursery and primary schools, as well as other visitors, such as researchers, artists and people interested in learning about what they do.
The vision of Ribnica Handicraft Centre is to become a dynamic woodenware and pottery centre, which will be part of a network of regional handicraft centres all around Slovenia and thus comparable to other similar handicraft centres elsewhere in Europe.
The mission of Ribnica Handicraft Centre is all of the following: continuous care for the preservation and development of cultural heritage and connection of this cultural heritage with modern art; collection, protection, documentation and research of cultural heritage and providing the public with information about its significance in the past, present and future, building connections between cultural activities and tourism, as well as other industries, educating people and increasing the popularity of handicrafts.
Their aim is to make it possible for our visitors to identify the cultural identity of the area and help the locals preserve it. With their presence they are also an integral part of the contemporary cultural happenings in their hometown.
