Description
This tour begins at Postojna Cave in Slovenia, one of the largest karst monuments globally. Here, you will travel through the underground landscape on an electric train—the only such experience worldwide—and observe the proteus, a rare amphibian species native to this cave system.
The tour continues to Predjama Castle, located in the village of Predjama. This castle, built into a 123-meter-high vertical cliff, has stood for over 800 years. The Lokva River flows beneath it, disappearing into the cave below.
Predjama Castle is unique as the only preserved cave castle in Europe, offering insights into medieval architecture and defensive strategies. It served as a refuge during a 15th-century siege and was home to the legendary Erazem of Predjama, a local nobleman known for his defiance and resourcefulness.
