Description
Begin with a visit to Škocjan Caves, where the Reka River flows 200 meters underground through one of Europe’s most impressive karst systems. Learn about the geological significance and unique environment of the caves.
Next, stop at a local tavern to sample Karst air-dried prosciutto, considered by many locals as Slovenia’s finest, accompanied by a glass of Teran wine, a regional specialty.
Continue to Lipica, the original home of the white Lipizzaner horses known for their association with the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. Observe these horses in their natural setting.
Drive along the coast visiting the towns of Koper, Izola, and Portorož before arriving in Piran. Explore its narrow medieval streets independently and enjoy free time for a seafood meal at one of the town’s restaurants or cafés.
On the return journey to Ljubljana, stop at Predjama Castle, renowned as the largest cave-integrated castle worldwide. Discover the history of the site and local legends, including the story of knight Erazem.
