Description
We’ll begin at the oldest square in the city and wander through some of Ljubljana’s most picturesque, lesser-known streets. As we make our way through town, you’ll discover a greener, more peaceful side of the capital. Strolling through former fishing and boatmen’s villages, you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped into the countryside — districts of Ljubljana that remain semi-rural and have preserved the charm and some character of the small village. We’ll dive into the rich history of Ljubljana, uncovering the remnants of the Roman city and exploring the hidden corners of its medieval past. Along the way, we’ll taste a traditional Slovenian dessert that’s a must during Easter and Christmas, and later, we'll toast the experience with a refreshing local craft beer in one of the city's most beloved local spots. This tour is designed with sustainability in mind: it’s 100% walking-based, supports local businesses, and celebrates Ljubljana’s natural and cultural heritage. But this is more than just sightseeing — it’s a deep dive into the soul of the city: • Learn about the importance of the river Ljubljanica, known as the river of seven names • Discover the story of a hidden WWII bunker tucked beneath Ljubljana Castle • Explore two neighbourhoods where locals still grow their own vegetables — Slovenians are so passionate about gardening • Walk through the so-called shit streets (yes, there’s a story!) • Visit Slovenia’s own Montmartre and hear about the country’s bold expressionist artists • Hear the legend of the dragon, the city's iconic protector • Snap unique photos from the bridge that has moved locations — twice • Stroll down the charming, picturesque Eipprova Street • Discover the oldest christian statue in Ljubljana • Uncover the sustainable vision of Jože Plečnik, Slovenia’s most iconic architect • Learn why Slovenia is considered a firefighting phenomenon • Experience for yourself why Ljubljana was named the Green Capital of Europe We’ll end our journey in a peaceful park along the river — a perfect place to relax with a drink, flip through a book, and reconnect with nature just a step away from the city centre. This tour is for curious travellers who crave authentic experiences and love discovering places that don’t show up in guidebooks. So — are you ready to explore the Ljubljana only locals know?Includes
