Description
Slovenia's most magical winter activity — and one anyone can do.
Snowshoeing is the easiest way to experience a snowy alpine forest. You strap the shoes onto your normal boots, learn a few simple techniques, and within 10 minutes you're walking on top of deep snow that would swallow you without them. No skiing skills, no climbing experience, no fitness barrier — just you, the silence of the forest, and a landscape you couldn't reach otherwise.
How the day unfolds
We pick you up in Ljubljana or Bled — at a central meeting point, or directly at your accommodation if you've selected the pickup add-on. Ljubljana guests join us for a short stop at our office in Bled to be fitted with the right size snowshoes and gear before we continue together to the Pokljuka Plateau, about 30 minutes further into the Julian Alps.
At the trailhead, your guide runs a quick safety briefing and 10 minutes of basic technique — how to walk uphill, downhill, and on flat snow. It's simple, and after your first few minutes on the snowshoes you'll be moving naturally.
From there, we snowshoe through some of Slovenia's most beautiful winter landscapes: silent spruce forests draped in snow, open meadows dusted white, forest streams half-frozen and glittering. Your guide sets a comfortable pace, stops for photos, and points out wildlife tracks along the way. If you have kids in the group, we play a bit — small games and snow play that make the day memorable for young ones.

We keep groups small, adjust the pace to the slowest walker, and take our time at the beautiful spots. If you've never seen deep snow before, or your kids have never played in an alpine forest — this is the day for that.

Round-trip transport from Bled, expert local guide, snowshoes and poles for every guest. If you don't have winter boots, warm jacket, or gloves, we can rent them to you when you book — we run the most fully-equipped winter rental shop in the area.

Important Information
- Perfect for beginners. No snowshoe experience needed. Suitable for reasonably fit adults, families, and children aged 8 and up. Your guide teaches basic technique at the start — most people are comfortable within 10 minutes.
Physical demand. This is an easy to moderate winter walk. You should be comfortable walking for 2–3 hours on snow with occasional gentle uphill and downhill sections. Not suitable for guests with serious mobility limitations.
We provide snowshoes and poles. You need warm layers, waterproof jacket, and closed-toe winter boots. Winter boots, jackets, backpacks and gloves are available as rentals when you book.
Winter conditions vary. We choose the exact location based on the day's snow conditions to find the best fresh snow. In low-snow winters, we may adjust to higher-altitude locations.
Weather policy. We operate in all normal winter conditions. Cancellation only in extreme weather, with full refund or reschedule.
