Description

A real Slovenian summit — in winter, at your own pace. Most winter tours in Bled take you sightseeing. This one takes you up. From the alpine plateau of Pokljuka, we hike above the tree line to a Julian Alps summit above 2,000 metres, where the reward is one of the most complete winter panoramas in Slovenia: Mt Triglav standing pyramid-sharp on the horizon, valleys spread white below, and silence that only mountains at altitude can offer. How the day unfolds We pick you up in Ljubljana or Bled and drive to Pokljuka, a high karst plateau in Triglav National Park. Home to Slovenia's Olympic biathlon centre, dense spruce forests, and shepherd huts that have stood for centuries. This is where our winter summit hikes begin. Your guide chooses the day's summit based on current conditions; snow depth, avalanche risk, weather, and visibility. In good conditions, we may head for Viševnik (2050m) or Debela Peč (2014m). If the ridges are icy or windy, we choose a safer summit like Lipanski Vrh (1972m) or Mrežce (2054m). Every summit gives you the same reward: a panoramic view of Mt Triglav and the Julian Alps, hard-earned altitude, and the deep quiet of winter mountains. This is how professional winter guiding works. Fixed itineraries don't survive real winter conditions. Our guides know these peaks in every season and pick the summit that will give you the best possible day safely. If weather/safety means we cannot provide the booked above-2,000m summit, we offer a full refund or reschedule. Why book with a guide Winter summit hiking in the Julian Alps requires local knowledge. Reading snow conditions, choosing safe routes, adjusting to weather changes. Our guides have walked these summits in every kind of winter. They handle the terrain reading, the pace, and the safety. You focus on the hike and the view.
