Description
Begin your journey with a visit to the Postojna Cave, the most renowned cave and one of the greatest karst monuments in the world. Embark on a guided tour that includes walking and a ride on an underground train through tunnels, passages, and vast halls.
In the large concert hall, see human fish inside a big aquarium, the most famous cave animals in the world. Keep in mind that the temperature in the cave is constant and regardless of the season, it is always around 10° C. You should dress accordingly.
Next, head to the village of Predjama to see the Predjama Castle, perched under a natural archway 123 meters up the rock face. Listed in the Guinness World Records as the largest castle in a cave, it has a well-deserved reputation for being virtually impregnable.
Built in a Gothic style by the Patriarch of Aquileia sometime during the 13th century, the castle was first mentioned in the historical record in the year 1274.
