Houses of Slovenian Istria
Slovenia
Far from the city noise, far from groups of people and far from reality, Houses of Slovenian Istria offer a unique, traditional experience which illustrates Istrian as well as Slovenian history. Houses are named after Istrian women and wives (Šavrinke) who had to sell farm products at the local markets to earn additional money: jajčarica (egg woman), krušarica (bread woman) in mlekarica (milk woman).
In front of the houses are wooden benches with tables, a natural fireplace along with vineyards and orchards. Figs, cherries, hazelnuts, peaches and olives as well as Mediterranean herbs such as rosemary, bay leaf, basil, sage, and various vegetables grow around the area and await for you to pick them fresh.
A vacation in the Houses of Slovenian Istria brings numerous possibilities to experience the culture and to learn about Istrian cuisine and local products that reflect this beautiful region.
