Description

Please join my guided tour of Ljubljana's lovely old town in the following fashion: * Prešeren Square: the love story of France Prešeren, the clash between the priest from the red church and the artist, and the fascinating reason why the Art Nouveau buildings are so colourful. * The Seminary Palace: The symbolism of the two Hercules statues who guard the Ljubljana Cathedral. * The Padlock Bridge: where the statues tell tales (the story behind the Adam and Eve, Faun, Prometheus, and the Dragon statues). * The Fountain of the Three Carniolan Rivers in front of the Town Hall. * The sculpture of the washer women from Bizovik. * A liquor shot break: recharge your batteries by trying a local liquor. * The Cobbler's Bridge and the medieval thievery story. * The National and University Library: decipher the symbolism behind a true work of art by Jože Plečnik. * The Congress Square as the witness of all Ljubljana's history. Every city tells wonderful stories, and Ljubljana is no exception. These stories tell about people, events, and beliefs, and are best told through exploring art and architecture of the city, and its development through time. I invite you to join me in one such exploration. Disregard dry history lectures of other tours, and immerse yourself into story-telling, symbolism, art, and architecture. I am an award-winning tourist worker from Ljubljana with close to two decades of experience, who has dedicated his life to sharing knowledge, and putting smiles on people’s faces. Why choose a 1 hour 30 minutes walking tour instead of the ones which last 2 hours or more? According to my experience, most people get tired and lose focus after 1 hour 30 minutes of listening. So, avoid the full bladder, back pain, and staying in the sun too long, pay less and enjoy more. In case you wish to know more, I add 15 to 20 minutes of questions at the end of the tour anyway, (it is nice to have options). I also make sure to limit my groups under 20 participants for better enjoyment. So, please join me and book. My tour starts from the main square (Prešernov trg 1) underneath the Hauptmann House, in front of the bronze scale model of Ljubljana (look for the red umbrella), and ends at the same place. Not staying in Ljubljana and wish to visit? Make sure to avoid overpaying for your trip in order to listen to your guide tell empty stories on a motorway. Save money by booking my tour, and reaching Ljubljana by local transport. There are regular, inexpensive bus services to Ljubljana from all over the country.
